This is information i have learned and typed up from a police explorers meeting.
Rules::
1.) Treat all firearms
as if they are loaded at all times.
2.) Never
let the muzzle cross path of something or someone you do not wish to kill or
destroy.
3.) Keep
finger of the trigger until you are ready to shoot [place finger on the slide
instead]
4.)Be aware of what is behind your target.
Gun
Storage:: Always
disassemble the gun for safety. Keep the gun in a gun safe unloaded with the
key hidden in a safe location. Know what is behind the walls in your house and
other’s houses , because a bullet will go through the wall.
Safety:: Do not hand a weapon to anyone else
unless asked to do so. Look to make sure the gun has no bullets in it and then
show to the other person and have them look also to make sure the gun is
unloaded. Holster your weapon by sight, rather than feel. Always use eye
protection and ear protection, because the guns are loud.
Maitenance:: Poor gun maitenance can result in a misfire and the minimum time it
should take you to clean your firearm is 10 minutes. You should fire
periodically to check for malfunctions.
